The Complete Patriot Software Integration Guide

Patriot Software keeps payroll affordable and approachable for small employers. That simplicity is worth protecting on the benefits side too. When coverage changes live in Patriot but have to be retyped into carrier systems, the manual step is where enrollments get missed and terminations slip through.
Connecting Patriot Software to Benefit Cloud automates that handoff. Your payroll and employee data moves straight to your benefits ecosystem, carrier feeds stay accurate, and your team stops doing double entry.
Patriot Software uses HTTP Basic authentication for its API, so you submit a username and password rather than a token. Setup is quick and requires no separate app registration. Here is how.
Step 1: Enable API Access in Patriot Software
Patriot Software provides API access that an administrator enables from your account settings.
Sign in to Patriot Software as an administrator.
Go to Settings, then API Settings or Integrations.
Enable API access if it is not already active.
Create or note the API username and password associated with your account.
Step 2: Locate Your API Username and Password
You will submit the username and password associated with your Patriot account, or a dedicated API user if you have configured one. Keep both values secure until you submit them.
Step 3: Submit Your Credentials to Benefit Cloud
Submit the username and password through the secure Benefit Cloud portal, where they are encrypted immediately using industry-standard encryption. Benefit Cloud uses the Patriot Software API in read-only mode to retrieve employee and payroll data for benefits processing. We do not modify records or write back to Patriot.
What Happens Next
Benefit Cloud tests the connection, maps your data to your feed requirements, and confirms once the integration is live. Your data then syncs automatically going forward.
